Looking For Miracles
69
Someone a few days ago on hubs asked me why there are no miracles anymore. The person was not a Christian and was using this as proof of Christian’s stupidity I assume; or proof God no longer was, even if He used to be.
Well of course I know there are miracles and there have been many in my own life and I have heard of many but I had nothing at my fingertips for proof and I really felt bad about that. I guess I silently wished God could make something concrete come to mind while I was so busy I could not even give that the attention I should have. Many things since I was sixteen have come on me to overcome, some small, then some more serious; but with God’s grace and my belief that Christ's blood not only covers my soul but that His stripes were for my healing; all has always turned out well. {Mt.8:14: “Himself took our infirmities and bear our sickness.”} {Isaiah 53:5 reads, “But He was wounded (pierced) for our transgressions (sin), he was bruised (injured) for our iniquities (sins); the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”} I have lived by an almost daily reminder that by his blood I am saved (given eternal life), by His stripes I am healed. He gave both and I want both; so I claim both.
Years ago I heard about a place in some back woods country where missionaries were teaching the bible and these ignorant poor people were walking on water. Was it true? I believed it was; they did not have the things of the world to hold them back. I would have so loved to have witnessed this!
I will hurry on for those with little patience and tell you of a miracle God placed right in my lap from a friend a few days ago and I want to share that with any who want to see a real miracle no man can dispute or explain except to call this a miracle.
A young girl just shy of becoming a teen was full of tumors from stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We can imagine what all she had been through little of which was losing her hair; but for a young girl that is much besides the treatments and pain. She was not to go around anyone, I assume because as with most diseases resistance is very low to all germs and any illness added to the present one could be very dangerous. It was Sunday morning though and she and her mother slipped into the back of a church for the service and they would slip out before the end.
There was an alter call for anyone needing prayer and naturally with this being the reason they were there really, the daughter begged they go up for prayer and so they did and knelt at the alter there. In a few minutes they rose to leave and the girl could not move with someone at her back. I naturally thought it was God when I was told this and in the long run it really was. The whole church surrounded them… praying. We are always God's instruments when we are willing.
When this young girl returned to this great place of doctors at the well known Baptist Hospital; the tumors that had been throughout her body could not be found. Three scans to make sure, but there were no tumors left. The doctors were astounded naturally.
I am sure this story that made the newspaper near where my friend lives is not the only miracle, and those of us who believe in them don’t need proof but still it is very encouraging even to us to hear these things so I have decided to look for miracles awhile.
Actually I don’t think I ever told any of you of my own miracle. Well, the biggest one anyway. When I was sixteen I was in a car accident with a head injury, broken rib and numerous deep cuts; besides internal bleeding they never found the cause of and my father made them stop looking; causing pain, and I went into a coma. They said I didn’t have a pint of blood in my body, however they know this… yet that alone was a miracle to still be living. They said that. They told Mom and Dad they did not expect me to make it through the night though. I had many praying for me and I was in a coma for two weeks but I lived…against all odds. I have a whole life and also two children, I was told not to have, to be thankful for. I am a living miracle and that has always really been all I have ever needed. Jesus has been by my side since I was a child. He is my savior and He is my closest friend and He will see me home, whenever the time comes.
To be absent from this life is to be present with the Lord. 2nd Cor 5:8.

I think we have miracles occurring all the time, but we are blinded by our sinful natures.
Thank you Polly for reminding me of my own miracles.
I totally avoid the the religious forums because the way they treat Christianity there.
Inspirational hub, Polly. Lovely, and inspires me to moan less, and be grateful for what I have, and to remember that I experience little miracles (or perhaps bigger than I originally thought) every day.
Hi, Polly, This is an amazing story, how wonderful! I do believe that when people have enough faith, then that is what makes these miracles happen.
Polly, a beautiful testimony to faith.
As far as those who need proof, don't give it to them. It would be casting pearls before swine. Besides one does not achieve faith from proof. Faith precedes proof, and then proof becomes inconsequential.
I too have experienced great miracles and felt the grace of God embracing me.
We got the shakes here too Polly. A person that does the right things as best they can and believes in the Jesus is a real believer. And then, unfortunately we've got the Hypo-Christians. When people come together in love great things can happen. Your a special lady Polly. I like you very much and love you as a person-spirit...even if you don't like snakes..lol.
Thanks for the beautiful reply Polly. The H.P. friend Spirit Whisperer said it well with " We may be on different roads but they all lead to Rome." The little boy who ran back for his brother is in good hands and so are we. In the twinkling of an eye it can happen.
Dear Pollyannalana : I love this hub. You are right about miracles. They happen. It was wonderful that the girl lived , and became much better. About a year ago we heard that a little boy was about to die. He had cancer. They said he was just about to die. Then suddenly a miracle happened , and he got better. Mow he is in school. I always pray for miracles, and then I guess God decides when it is best to have them , or not. Fantastic hub. God Bless You.
Very nice Jackie
GOD is GREAT we do so many things to offend HIM yet he take us in like nothing happened.
It's a good thing He spared your life
Thank HIM FOREVER
GREAT!!!
Keep it up
Thank you for sharing these awesome miracles. I think God is perfoming miracles everyday in our lives. The fact that we are saved and others are being saved each day is the greatest miracle. I have voted this hub awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Pollyannalana: Thank you for the touching, triumphant, and true story of your miraculous life, which you tell in your unique, miraculous style!

Completely agree with you on the miracles Pollyannalana - they do exist and God does use them when He sees fit to use them. I suppose we can never be sure of when God will choose to use a miracle and we can never count or rely upon Him to do so - either way He will use any given situation for our good and to His glory, and that may mean answering prayer in a way that we may not expect. We just need to accept His answer because it is always the right one at the right time. Voted up.
Hi Pollyannalana, what a wonderful hub. I believe in miracles myself. God works in mysterious ways, and He's unpredictable. When the chips are down, God comes and turns your life around for the better.
